Matchbox was founded in 2008 by Tony Ayres, Penny Chapman, Helen Panckhurst, Helen Bowden and Michael McMahon and in 2011, following NBCUniversal’s investment in the business, Chris Oliver-Taylor was appointed Managing Director.
Matchbox has grown significantly in that period and employs a brilliant team of creative, legal, administrative and financial minds across both scripted and unscripted content who are spread out all over Australia. Matchbox Pictures has been awarded Media Super Production Business of the Year twice, in 2015 and 2011
by the Screen Producers Association of Australia.
